For someone who neglects their blog regularly, I am going to keep this short and sweet.
I was thinking last night, when I was tossing and turning, about social media overload. I’m on a major overdose and don’t know how much more I can take. The number one reason I may slip into the dark underworld is because of time, or lack thereof. I won’t pretend I am the busiest person in the world, because I’m not. But, seriously, if I wanted to keep up with all of the other blogs, tweets, myspace, facebook postings, etc… I would never get anything done! Where do people find the time?
I’ll tell you. People are doing all their “social networking” at work! Remember the studies that started coming out after email and internet became a staple in the workforce? Studies claimed productivity dipped because people are spending more time on non-work related playtime. It’s the norm now.
And, since I am entitled to my opinion… I am going to take one more stab at Twitter. Trust me, I get it. I see how it can benefit the media and other businesses, but I would bet more than half of the people using Twitter, aren’t benefitting the general population. Who has time to read Twitter and friend “updates” every 5 minutes… not to mention all the misinformation that’s being leaked to an already misinformed audience?
I’ve had my head nearly bitten off by a friend or two who said, “they hate it when people knock it and they know nothing about it.” Oh, I didn’t realize I was one of the misinformed.
Okay now, who has time to read my blog?
